Your Questions About Spirituality Quotes

Donald asks…

More proof of the negetive correlation of INT and Spirituality… w/ direct source quotes (please mature resp)

THe equivalent of the US National Academy of Sciences in Britain (including all western European nations including Canada and parts of the Middle east such as pakistan and india) is the Royal Soceity. Or better known as the Fellows of the Royal Society(FRS).

Cornwell and Stirrat study of the religious beliefes of the FRS

This elite society consists of exactly 1,074 Fellows of the Royal Society, all possesing an email adress. All where polled.
23% responded (good figure for this kind of study)
They were offered varios propositions for example: “i believe in a personal God, that is one who takes an interest in individuals, hears and answers prayers, is concerned with sin and transgressions and pass judgement.”
They were to choose from 1 (strong disagreement) to 7 (strong Agreement)

The trend correlated strongly with the much larger study of the US National Academy of Sciences
(CONTINUED)…..
The over wheliming majority of FRS, like the overwheliming majority of the US academicians, are athiests. Only 3.3 percent of the fellows afreed strongly (7) with the statement that a personal god exists. While 78.8 percent strongly disagreed (1).

If you define believers as those who chose 6 or 7 and unbelievers as a 1 or 2 on the scale, there were a massive 213 unbelievers and a mere 12 beliervers.

They also found in a seperate study that a small but signifcant tendency for biological snientists to be even more atheistic than physical scientist.

If you want the details and all the rest of their very exciting conclusions please refer to their own paper:
R. Elisabeth Cornwell and Michael Stirrat, manuscript in perparation, 2006
didjlord:

I am looking for intelligent and mature responses. That by far does not fit this critieria, infact just helps me concede the point. Please, if this is your attempt at converting me, you should be ashamed at such a feeble and lazy attempt.
dlin333:

Remember the extreme response was 7. The answers such as 6 and 5 were not as extreme, and would still classify themselves as believers.
seekfind:

Spiritual intelligence and Scientific intelligence are two different magiseria. Hence the use of NOMA. Scientific Intelligence is based on fact while spiritual is well not… rather its based on abstract and opinion of faith.

admin answers:

If you take a survey of people who are more intelligent than spiritual of course the result will skew for the intelligent rather than the spiritual. The result is self-fulfilling. If you take a survey confined to those who are truly spiritual and know God the result will be different. The survey merely shows the percentage of people who majored in intelligence knowing God. It just proves that it takes spiritual discernment and not intelligence to know the reality of God.

Your Questions About Spirituality

Michael asks…

How far will your personal spirituality allow you to go to stop a crime?

If you can stop a violent crime by being involved and interfering with the commission of that violent crime would you? Is your spirituality strong enough to risk life, reputation, economy (law suits) for the safety of an innocent victim? Or would you stand back and at most just be a witness and give your side of story to the police?

admin answers:

It is a very important question which we must all ask from our conscience.
To some people spirituality has nothing to do with the worldly things. Players
of Pakistan’s cricket team were under the influence of a religious party and
never disclosed a word to authorities or the press about match fixing going on
in the game. On the other hand, an air hostess wrote a letter to a newspaper
at the risk of her job, that turnaround time given to PIA crew was higher than
the standard of other international airlines, costing millions to the airline. I
admired the girl for her honesty that she showed at the cost of her own perks.

Islam teaches us that the primary job of every Muslim is to order the good and
stop the bad in the society. There is a very famous verse in Quran which
declares Muslim nation as the best among nations of the world which undertakes
to support the good and stop the evil. Scholars often quote a companion of
prophet who tried to protect an infidel woman, who was being teased by the
vagabonds on a road and was killed as a result. A Muslim woman who went
to a Jewish locality close to Madinah was teased by the son of goldsmith and
was unclothed. When the news reached Prophet Muhammad SAW, he took
a small team with him to convince the Jews to handover the culprit to the
government, but they were confident of strength of their fortress and challenged
him, which resulted in punishment of the culprits and expulsion of Jews from
Madinah.

Famous poet Iqbal has said: ” The ideology that is not written with the blood of
martyrs is sheer philosophy “.

Peace and love .

Your Questions About Spirituality Quotes

Thomas asks…

To those who are bothered by Bible quotes: Why do Bible quotes bother you?

This is the RELIGION & SPIRITUALITY SECTION! Of course we’re going to give Bible quotes. It wouldn’t be a RELIGION & SPIRITUALITY SECTION if we didn’t give Bible quotes. It’s, like, our job to give Bible quotes. If this bothers you, then why do you come on this particular section? You’re a glutton for punishment and that’s not our fault. We can’t help you if you love to put yourself in misery. We have every right to give Bible quotes. It’s how we Christians learn from each other.

admin answers:

Hmm, if I see a Bible quote, I just give it a thumbs down, and…. Voila! I am not bothered by it anymore. :)

Oh, and yes this WOULD still be the Religion & Spirituality section even if you didn’t give Bible quotes.

Your Questions About Spirituality

Robert asks…

If you think that spirituality is incompatible with science, define spirituality and explain your view?

Most people that think that spirituality is incompatible with science have a definition of spirituality that trivially leads to this conclusion. For example, “Spirituality is the creation of our imagination, so it is incompatible with science” or “We cannot even define spirituality, so … ” or “Spirituality deals with things that cannot be measured, so … “.

admin answers:

The more I learn the science, the more “spiritual”I get.To me,”spiritual”has zero to do with ghosts and goblins and such, and everything to do with the “connectedness”that science actually backs up,more and more, the deeper we look

Your Questions About Spirituality Of Imperfection

William asks…

Pleae help really quickly, i dont want to be over dramatic, or in my case mellow dramatic?

I have an ENFP personality June 24, 1991. Im a spiritual Cancer in my own way. My family finds their spirituality through religion and they live for the unorthodox. I am emotional and have conquered my insecurities through psycho actives. I had a huge identity crisis this summer after failing out and discovering psychedelics. I tripped hard for two weeks left home took classes. I had two minor in possessions and i upset my dad. My mom is so obsessed with me she ignores my imperfections. I used to be a big bitch about everything but honestly i just bitch now to laugh about the situational irony pot heads (and all americans and past ancestors) put themselves in. . I am 19teen. But this new transformations from a depressed women mentality to a semi- beautiful human has changed the way i live. I now use knowledge, the ego, and strategical reasoning. Im good and crazy, people are amazed. I never have learned kinesthetically or physically after a certain grade so people dont like my “chilledness” for too long. A lack of security drove me to drugs. I have learned the good from the bad. The id from the ego. I dont really know why im on here. I think im just lonely. But honestly i just want labels on what i have. Tear my spoiled ass up. I know people like yall hate me. Seriously, be fucking jealous. Any psychiatrists who use the time wave theory understand. Confused? isnt that the consensus. Are this the stars talking to me??? I forgot to mention that I have bad insomnia and when i was growing up i followed god hoping for a change in my skin condition. I have bad allergies and extremely dry skin. They played with each other and i would bleed in the bed sheets. I need outlets for creation like no other. I went to school with a hundred punk kids in my class. Everyone of them needing a Trip.
I think i have neurological disorders. How detrimental in ones ability to learn is cocaine, stress, and mania/neurotic thoughts? I cant learn kinesthetically or physically. I limited myself and i need someone to tell me what im good at.

Your Questions About Spirituality In The Workplace

John asks…

Church vs. State in the Government Workplace?

I am an open-minded Christian who respects everyone else’s spirituality, or lack thereof.

I work for a government agency. We deal with some of the lowest of the low people everyday, counseling them on a regular basis.

When a client brings up religion, should I feel at liberty to discuss it with them? I have been indecisive about this for a while.

For example, one of my clients is going through AA steps. He was discussing his religious beliefs in front of another client in my office.

I want to help these people, but I don’t think it’s my place to discuss religion with them. This is a state government agency.

I overhear a lot of my coworkers preaching their beliefs to clients. I think I even overheard a group prayer once, including clients.

I had a client yesterday grill me about my own beliefs.
If a client brings up spirituality, what should I do?
PS: I DO know state laws. I’m in law enforcement.

admin answers:

Send them to their pastors
and tell them, you are not employee of a church, but government
Some of them simply cannot tell the major difference
